Christopher has raised $100m+ in funding for early-stage companies in life sciences and tech and has numerous successful exits.

His track record for developing and enhancing overall corporate profitability in start-ups and existing entities has afforded him an opportunity to work with high-profile government and business leaders and Fortune 500 companies, including a strategic partnership with Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, among others.

In 2007, Governor Charlie Crist appointed Malter Chairman of The Florida Life Sciences Council (FLSC), a group comprised of world-class CEOs and senior executives dedicated to advising the Governor and state officials in the life sciences sector. Malter founded IMC, a capital management group dedicated to funding and growing early-stage and mid-level companies in high-growth markets.

Mike is an accomplished Fortune 50 business leader with over 30 years of experience delivering high growth to healthcare, pharma, insurance, and finance companies. Mike is known for finding solutions when none are obvious and for building and leading teams facing demanding situations. Mike has engineered and executed large-scale strategic and operational turnarounds, delivering rapid results and achieving sustainable change.

Mike most recently served as the Chief Commercial Officer for OptumRx, a $95B division of United Health Group, where he worked for 18 years. Previously, he served as Chief Operating Officer of Growth for Optum. He led double-digit organic growth for over 8 years, developing over $30B in accelerated organic revenue.

Before that, he served as President/COO for United Healthcare National Accounts, where he managed a $10B P&L and realized a 100% increase in clients and a 500% increase in members. His leadership history before UHG included a variety of roles: Global Sales/SVP for BGS, now Lionbridge Technologies; SVP for Guardian Life; CEO at Gemkey.com; President/SVP Retail Finance Division with Standard & Poor’s, and VP/Director with Automatic Data Processing.

Mike holds a B.S. in Economics from Temple University and an M.B.A. in MIS from Fairleigh Dickinson University. He has also completed Executive Leadership programs both at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and UVA’s Darden School of Business.

Most recently, Dr. Makary was appointed Chair of Governor Youngkin’s Medical Advisory Team.
